My fascination with all art work using threads started very early in my childhood. Coming from a strong architectural and design background, I was drawn to Macramé and got completely engulfed in this art form that saw a great revival in the 60’s.
The kind of complexity and variety that one could develop through knotting using colors and textures is extremely rich and wide ranging. The process is simple and the results stunning. I have made huge wall hangings, screens, room dividers and glass flute screens. For the past five years or so, I started dabbling in small wall hangings, Macramé bags, belts and then glass beaded jewelry. Since then I have not looked back and have created more than two thousand pieces, each piece unique and special.
I am fascinated with the vast variety of glass beads available in India, and I continue to experiment with the gleaming pods of glass. This search for the next gleaming piece of glass and silver has led to the inner alleys of Bhuleshwar, Agra, old Delhi and Jaisalmer for semi-precious gems. These journeys continue to enrich and inform my art and creativity.
I hope you enjoy the collection as much as I love creating them.
