Being trained as an architect I was constantly playing with lines, dots, surfaces, colours and textures. I wanted to create a composition using these Basic Design elements. and by the strength of lines and surfaces. I was also very conscious of using principles of repetition, rhythm and balance. I started making Macramé wall hangings and room dividers in the 1980's. I was fascinated with the process of knotting; this process involved very few knots and yet the variation using these knots was enormous.
